Temporary Partial Disability (TPD)
If your workers' compensation case is in progress and you reach a stage of healing that allows you to work light duty on a part-time or full-time basis, the workers' compensation system describes your status as temporary partial disability, or TPD.
TPD status qualifies you for a benefit because you are earning less than in the pre-injury job(s). The payment continues until you have returned to the pre-injury job or have finished healing.
The TPD payment is two-thirds of the difference between the average amount you would be able to earn in the pre-injury job(s) and the net amount you earn in the light-duty job.
